I read this quotation from a contemporary poet the other day:

"Poetry...should be just one more thing that brings people pleasure."

Ah, yeah, well, really? Is there challenge implied in pleasure? Illumination? Brain-fire? Disorientation? Thought-hijacking? Stream-hitchiking?
